“No Retreat” Retreat!

NABR “No Retreat” Retreat - What will NABR be in 2007?
Saturday, January 27th
Location: The Old Brick - Richmond and Marlborough in Fishtown
Time: 12:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. (Snacks and drinks will provided)

We have had a great year, with HUGE successes, but there is so much more to do. NABR needs your help more than ever! Even if you have never attended a NABR meeting, please join us Saturday, January 27th to participating in forming NABR’s goals for the coming months. What are the most pressing issues that you want to see NABR take action on? Influencing the riverfront planning process, defeating casinos, restructuring zoning procedures, participating in dialogues with Mayoral candidates? Bring your thoughts and ideas to NABR and become a leader!

On December 20th, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced that they would issue licenses to build two gigantic slots barns on the Delaware River, both within a few hundred feet of residential neighborhoods, despite the very vocal outcry against these sites. NABR is against both the casinos that were chosen, against placing casinos in neighborhoods, and for a rational riverfront design process that includes community input. We believe the best way to achieve change in this city is for citizens to take responsibility for it into their own hands, and to band together across civic association lines. There is much we can still do to put a stop to this outrageous process, but we need your help.
