PA Rep. Josephs to unveil bill to create slots buffer zone for neighborhoods

Jun 8 2007 - 12:20pm
Etc/GMT-4

Please join state Rep. Babette Josephs on Friday at noon, for the unveiling of legislation that would require a 1,500 foot buffer zone between area neighborhoods and new casino development in the city.

Josephs will hold a news conference and rally in support of her bill:

Fridary, June 8, 12pm
Dillworth Plaza, on the west side of City Hall
15th and Market

Joining Josephs will be members of Casino Free Philadelphia, the Delaware River Neighborhood Alliance, City Council and the Philadelphia Delegation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

The legislation mirrors the referendum that ultimately was removed from Philadelphia's primary election day ballot by court order. It would ban casinos within 1,500 feet of schools, residential neighborhoods, including homes, playgrounds and churches.
